Sculptra in Miami
Sculptra® stimulates long-term collagen growth over time to correct wrinkles, folds and contour irregularities. Using the polymer poly-L-lactic acid, Sculptra® is proven to provide long-lasting results through a series of injections. Dr. Maercks frequently recommends Sculptra in Miami for treatment of:
- Recessed cheeks
- Nasal labial folds
- Smile lines
- Jaw line laxity
Because it acts gradually over time, Sculptra® is not ideal for patients who require immediate results that other injectables may provide.
What to Expect During Treatment with Sculptra in Miami
No allergy testing is required prior to a Sculptra® treatment. The poly-L-lactic acid used in Sculptra® has been used for decades in dissolvable stitches and as a facial injectable in more than 30 countries. Upon the first injection, a conservative amount of Sculptra® is typically administered. Using a special technique, your plastic surgeon injects the filler into the desired area and may use a dental block or numbing cream to control discomfort. Following treatment, the patient may be advised to massage the area. Given the delayed nature of the effects, results may not be noticeable until four weeks after treatment, at which point another treatment may be performed.
Following Sculptra Treatment
Dr. Maercks will provide you with specific post treatment instructions after your Sculptra treatment. The effects of Sculptra® take place after approximately four weeks and may last from one to two years, with additional follow-up treatments, though treatments must be completed at least four weeks apart.
Sculptra® has potential side effects such as swelling, bruising, redness or bumps and granulomas (a mass of immune cells) may form at the injection site. Any of these possible side effects are usually resolved without treatment. The doctor may ask you to massage or ice (not directly) the treated area to help minimize any possible side effects.
