What to Expect During Treatment with Restylane in Miami
After the injection site is carefully chosen and cleansed with an antiseptic, Restylane® is injected below the dermis with a fine needle using a special technique. The Restylane® then combines with the naturally occurring hyaluronic acid and binds to water. The surgeon may then massage the injected area to smooth it with the face’s natural contours. To minimize pain, Restylane® contains lidocaine, but an additional anesthetic may be administered for comfort.
Restylane-L now contains lidocaine for enhanced comfort, so patients who have a known allergy to it should not undergo treatments. Additionally, patients with allergies to gram-positive bacteria, bad allergies to some drugs or bleeding disorders should not have Restylane® treatments.
Following Treatment
The results of Restylane® can last from six to 12 months, at which point the body’s metabolism will break down and clear away the filler. Touch-up injections are usually needed to maintain the filler’s effect, but the amount of filler needed is considerably less than the initial treatment.
After your treatment, the injection area may feel overly full and you may experience some bruising or redness. Applying an ice pack can help to reduce any swelling at the site. For 24 hours following treatment, patients are advised to avoid strenuous exercise, sun or heat exposure and alcoholic beverages, as they may cause irritation at the injection site. Most averse reactions to Restylane® treatments are mild in nature and endure for less than seven days.
