Reconstructive Surgery

Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction surgery is performed for women who have undergone a mastectomy or a form of breast conserving surgery, such as a lumpectomy. Patients who have undergone a mastectomy may experience asymmetry and a loss of breast contour, shape or volume.

Cleft Lip and Palate

Surgical repair of cleft lip and palate has both functional and aesthetic goals. People affected by this condition are hindered in breathing, speaking and appearance. Through surgery, patients can realize significant improvements in all three of these areas.

Earlobe Repair

Earlobe repair is necessary when patients experience torn or stretched earlobes, usually as a result of accidents or the wearing of large, heavy earrings. The procedure is relatively simple and restores a normal appearance to the earlobe.

Hair Replacement

Various hair transplant procedures exist for individuals who suffer from forms of alopecia they wish to correct. All forms of hair replacement surgery are performed on an outpatient basis and take about four hours to complete. Both local and topical anesthetics are often used.

Hand Surgery

Hand surgery is designed to restore hand function, and improve hand appearance in cases where disease, injury, or birth defects have impaired hand form and function.

Scar Revision

Scar revision is a procedure to improve the appearance of scars caused by injuries, surgery or other incidents. Although scar revision may improve your scar, it cannot restore your skin to a pre-injury status. The procedure basically replaces the scar with a smaller, less visible marking.

Skin Cancer

Plastic and reconstructive surgeons in Miami commonly perform skin cancer surgery for patients presenting symptoms of basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. Treatments include curettage, surgical excision, Mohs micrographic surgery, radiation therapy, or cryotherapy.

Tissue Expansion

Tissue expansion is a procedure that enables the body to produce extra skin for reconstructive surgery procedures. A silicone balloon expander is inserted under the skin near the area to be repaired and then gradually filled with saline over time, causing the skin to stretch and grow.
