What is Radiesse?
Radiesse® is a unique biocompatible dermal filler made with a substance called calcium hydroxylapatite, a water-based gel containing small calcium microspheres. Used to fill virtually any wrinkle, the FDA-approved Radiesse® is indicated for treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. What to Expect During Treatment with Radiesse in Miami
Once the injection site is chosen, the plastic surgeon will inject Radiesse® at a specific depth in the skin using a fine needle. The surgeon may also massage the injection site to achieve a smooth result. The effects of the injection are immediate as Radiesse® acts as scaffolding for collagen, which the body will metabolize away over time. Radiesse® is also FDA-approved for lidocaine mixing to enhance patient comfort.
Radiesse® is not recommended for patients with a history or presence of multiple severe allergies or a hypersensitivity to any of its components.
Following Treatment
On average, the patient will see the results of the Radiesse® injection for a year, though some patients reported the injection lasting as long as 18 months. At that point, the patient will often return for another treatment.
Few side effects are associated with Radiesse® but may include mild irritation, swelling, discoloration or tenderness at the injection site, which should dissipate within two days.
