What is Prevelle Silk?
Prevelle® Silk is an injectable that contains hyaluronic acid, a component that is found naturally in the body, acting as a cushioner and hydrator. Because Prevelle® Silk is biocompatible, skin testing is not required. Patients who exhibit moderate to severe nasolabial folds can benefit from treatment with this injectable.
Prevelle® Silk is often described as a "lunch hour treatment" given the short treatment time and lack of downtime. Compared to fillers like Juvederm or Restylane, Prevelle Silk contains a lower concentration of hyaluronic acid. For this reason, many plastic surgeons recommend it for the patient who is unfamiliar with injectable products.
What to Expect During Treatment with Prevelle Silk in Miami
Using a fine needle, the Prevelle® Silk is injected into the skin at the site chosen and plumps the skin to smooth away wrinkles and folds. As Prevelle® Silk contains lidocaine, pain is minimal though the surgeon may use an additional anesthetic to maximize comfort.
Prevelle® Silk is not recommended for patients who have an allergy to lidocaine or any of the components of Prevelle® Silk. Patients with a history or the presence of multiple severe allergies may also not be candidates for treatment.
Following Treatment
Following treatment, you should be able to return to your normal routine right away. The treated area(s) may feel fuller than normal, but this should subside in a short time. Possible side effects include injection site reactions such as swelling, pain/tenderness, redness, and lumps/bumps. These reactions are usually mild and dissipate within seven days.
