Labiaplasty in Miami
- Improved labial hygiene
- Improved symmetry
- Improved self-confidence
A labiaplasty in Miami is performed in an effort to reduce labia minora that is affected by enlargement or asymmetry. Aside from improving symmetry, the additional goals of a labiaplasty are to improve hygiene and self-confidence. Labiaplasty, which may also be referred to as labia reduction, labia rejuvenation or vaginal lip reduction, does not affect sensation.
Labiaplasty is ideally performed on patients who have difficulty with hygiene, clothing or intercourse due to asymmetry of the labia. Asymmetry of the labia can often be caused by pregnancy, intercourse, genetics or piercing, though other factors may play a role.
The Surgical Process
Dr. Maercks uses a unique technique to acoid the pitfalls commonly encountered with techniques such as the central wedge or edge trim. He uses a process called de-epithelialization to retain a healthy and plump look while transposing young and beautiful pink tissue to the labia minora. In this way he not only rejuvenates form but also color and texture
Labiaplasty is performed on an outpatient basis and takes approximately one and half hours to complete. When the surgery is performed, the doctor may apply either a local anesthetic and sedation or a general anesthetic. When labiaplasty is performed on either one or both sides of the labia, excess tissue is reduced and the natural shape of the labia is maintained. The area is then sutured to provide aesthetic improvement.

Life After Labiaplasty in Miami
After a labiaplasty, the patient is sent home with specific instructions. The patient must abstain from sex and exercise for about four weeks. Any swelling or discomfort the patient experiences should subside in about two weeks. However, an oral pain medication may be prescribed to control discomfort. The sutures used in the surgery are dissolvable and the patient should expect to see the final result of the labiaplasty in three to six months.
Some complications and side effects may arise with labiaplasty surgery. These may include infection, bleeding, scarring, prolonged swelling, and asymmetry, and need for revision surgery. If you are concerned about these risks, ask Dr. Maercks for more information during your consultation in Miami Beach.
