Face
Dr. Maercks is uniquely qualified and passionate when it comes to his work in facial aesthetics. In addition to previously training in fine arts with a focus on figurative work and portraiture, he spent many collegiate years studing the philosophy, psychology and neurology of perception and the idea of beauty. He continues to lean on this knowledge, allowing subtle changes in only the most aesthetically powerful features of a patient's face. In a brief consultation Dr. Maercks identifies these features in each patient's face. This work, combined with his extensive international aesthetic and reconstructive craniofacial experience has led him to develop several unique approaches to addressing the aging face. Brow Lift
While Dr. Maercks does perform true brow lifts, he finds them rarely indicated in females. A true brow lift moves the eyebrow up vertically. In most normal faces this creates a surprised or quizzical look which is not an aesthetic improvement. Because of this, 'true brow lifts' are reserved for men with excessively descended brows and women with extremely drooped central brows. When a true brow lift is performed, Dr. Maercks uses tiny incisions in the hair bearing scalp and performs an endoscopic brow lift.
The majority of men and women that seek out a plastic surgeon for a brow lift are better served with Dr. Maercks' 'lateral hood lift.'
Chin Surgery
Chin surgery, or genioplasty, refers to procedures that reshape the chin. This may involve surgical alteration of the underlying bone or placement of an alloplastic facial implant. The goal of cosmetic chin surgery is to bring the chin and lower third of the face into proportion with other facial features.
Cheek Augmentation
Cheek augmentation procedures may use natural tissues, bone, a facial implant or an injectable filler to increase projection of the cheeks. These procedures are ideal for the treatment of sunken or recessed cheeks caused by aging or caused by inadequate underlying bone structure.
Dermabrasion
Dermabrasion is a skin resurfacing procedure that can treat conditions that reside on the top layers of your skin. A refreshed appearance is created by removing the outermost layers and causing natural collagen production through the healing process.
Ear Pinning Surgery
Otoplasty, or ear-pinning surgery, is a common procedure that repositions the ears for a more proportional appearance. The plastic surgeon reshapes the ear cartilage to improve its position, typically pinning the ear back so it protrudes more naturally.
Eyelid Surgery
Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure for men and women who have tired or aged appearing eyes. The natural shape of the eye is restored, tightening loose tissue and moving fat surrounding the upper or lower eyelids. Bags and dark circles arounds the eyes are treated and a refreshed appearance is attained.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
Endoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique that involves the use of an endoscope, a special viewing instrument that allows Dr. Maercks to see images of the underlying tissues through very small incisions.
Facelift
By restructuring the deep tissues or the face, the facelift can restore a youthful, beautiful and natural appearance to the face. Secondarily, wrinkles are reduced and folds and sagging skin disappear. Studies of this procedure have found that a facelift can make one appear, on average, more than 10 years younger. Closely related goals include improved self-esteem and improved quality of life. Dr. Maercks uses a unique technique, the Musculo-Aponeurotic Elevation Rhytidectomy with Check Kite Support (MAERCKS-lift).
Fat Grafting
Stem cell and fat graft transplantation based rejuvenation is similar to soft tissue augmentation using a dermal filler, except the procedure uses your own fatty tissue to restore facial volume and correct wrinkles and folds. Secondarily, this technique also restores and rejuvenates the outer appearance of the skin thanks to the natural stem cells and growth factors.
Neck Contouring
Neck contouring is ideal for patients who are concerned about excess neck fat, loose skin, neck bands, sagging jowls and loss of youthful angularity in the jaw area. These conditions will often hide or obscure the jaw line, which can negatively affect your appearance.
