Brow Lift in Miami
A brow lift in Miami is intended to elevate the brows and thereby reduce the appearance of wrinkles, furrows and other imperfections on the forehead. The procedure is often done with the aid of an endoscope, which allows for a less invasive procedure and shorter recovery. At our Miami Beach plastic surgery practice, Dr. Maercks can perform the endoscopic brow lift or traditional brow lift, depending on the patient’s needs.
While Dr. Maercks does perform true brow lifts, he finds them rarely indicated in females. A true brow lift moves the eyebrow up vertically. In most normal faces this creates a surprised or quizzical look which is not an aesthetic improvement. Because of this, 'true brow lifts' are reserved for men with excessively descended brows and women with extremely drooping central brows. When a true brow lift is performed Dr. Maercks uses tiny incisions in the hair bearing scalp and performs an endoscopic brow lift.
The majority of men and women that seek out a plastic surgeon for a brow lift are better served with Dr. Maercks' 'lateral hood lift.'

Who Should Consider a Brow Lift?
Patients who present conditions such as the following may be good candidates for a brow lift with Dr. Maercks:
- Sagging brow
- Glabellar (frown) lines
- Crow’s feet
- Forehead lines
- Asymmetric brow
During a consultation in our Miami Beach office, Dr. Maercks can determine if the brow lift is suitable for you.
The Surgical Procedure: What Happens During Brow Lift?
Most brow lifts can be completed in 1–2 hours. Dr. Maercks may recommend local anesthesia with sedation or in some cases, general anesthesia. The face and surrounding areas are cleansed and the hair is tied back. Incisions are made in different areas behind the hairline depending on technique; the endoscopic technique requires 4-5 short incisions, while the traditional brow lift requires a single incision. The tissues are gently elevated to restore a natural eyebrow arch. A special technique fixates the brow in place before the incisions are closed with clips or stitches.
What to Expect After Your Brow Lift in Miami
After surgery, the doctor applies a soft absorbent dressing to the treated areas. A medication is prescribed to help manage post-operative pain. Common post-operative effects include swelling, numbness, nausea and discomfort. Downtime is typically about 7 – 10 days. The doctor will provide specific instructions for your recovery, which you should closely follow for safety and optimal brow lift results.
